By Osaro Matthew

The biggest game of the season; a potential title decider ended on a sour note as it marred an almost perfect match on day 35 of the Nigeria Premier Football League, platinumnewsng.com is reporting.

The abandoned oriental derby between Enugu Rangers and Enyimba saw both teams unable to continue the game after a penalty was awarded in the 90+7th minute of the game in favour of the home team.

It was brace galore across various centres in NPFL. Samson Olasupo, Yusuf Ibrahim, Jonathan Alukwu and John Bassey netted twice on match day 35.

Kano Pillars 1-1 Niger Tornadoes

Tornadoes took the lead two minutes into the second half, as pillars’ defender Ismail Nasir, headed past his goalkeeper, Galadima. But Tornadoes had their joy cut short as Rabiu Ali levelled the score in the 49th minute.

Katsina United 4-0 Gombe United

Michael Ibe gave the host an early lead at Mohammed Dikko Stadium in the 4th minute. Andrew Idoko was on the scorers sheet with Samson Olasupo bagging a brace to seal the game.

Plateau United 2-0 Kwara United

Kwara United failed to get a point away in the city of Jos as the home side bagged maximum points. A last-minute goal from Barnabas Daniel sealed the victory for the host after Alex Enejoh’s 29th strike.

Bayelsa United 2-2 Sporting Lagos

It was drama at Yenagoa as the away side bottled a two-goal lead in the 70th minute to share the spoils. A brace from Jonathan Alukwu 65′ 70′ put the Lagos-based side in front but a brace from John Bassey secured a point for the home side. The result means both teams remain in the relegation zone.

Rivers United 1-0 3SC

After a 4-0 defeat to Enyimba last week, the pride of Rivers returned to winning ways. Stanley Eguma’s side got the victory from Nyima Nwagua’s 51st-minute strike.

Abia Warriors 0-0 Bendel Insurance

It was a goalless affair at Umuahia Township Stadium as both sides failed to get on the score sheet. The result means both sides didn’t score each other this season as it ended goalless at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium on October 28, 2023.

Sunshine Stars 2-0 Akwa United

The second brace from Yusuf Ibrahim 75′ 78′ was all that was needed for the Akure side to get the maximum points which takes them above their opponent on the Log. Akwa United will be hoping to do better in the remaining fixtures as they remain a point above the relegation zone.

Heartland 3-1 Doma United

Three points for relegation-bound Naze Millionaires means Doma United remains a point above the relegation zone 43 points.

Lobi Stars 3-2 Remo Stars

It was goals galore at Makurdi as goals from Christian Izuchukwu 6’, Chinedu Sunday 38’, and Stanley Oganbor 85’, ensured that the stars of Lobi shinned the brightest. The victory is Lobi’s second win in 10 matches.
