NPFL25: We Will Be Back At the Top Soon — Edo Deputy Governor

Two goals from Nazir Mohatand one from substitute, Austine Ogunye, earned Bendel Insurance a comfortable win over visiting Kwara United at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Saturday evening in the match day 13 of the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League.

It was a match under strict close door compliance with only teams players, officials and selected members of the media allowed into the 12,000 plus capacity stadium. The shut-out of fans game however wouldn’t have any effect on the home team who took the game to their opponents from the beginning of the game till it’s closure. The 2023 FA Cup champions could have scored more, but profligacy in front of goal reduced their goals to three.

Present at the match however was a convoy less newly sworn in deputy governor, Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa with about four entourage, to see the home team win.

Reacting to the win, “DENCO” as fondly called, expressed his excitement over the win as he promised that the government will do all in its capacity to ensure the team returns to the top of the league.

“I feel very great and I want to say congratulations to the team. This is my first time of watching the team play, as a deputy governor and I’m very excited at the outcome.”

“We are going to do whatever it takes to support the team and return to the top of the league very soon.”

Despite the comprehensive victory, Bendel Insurance remains in the relegation water with 12 points after 13 games. The team will next face fellow struggling side, Nasarawa United in the match day 14 of the season, away in Lafia.
