We now know all 13 teams who’ll compete in the much-awaited Platinum Cup group stage scheduled to kick off April 12 in Benin City.
With the draw set to take place on April 5, all attention will turn towards the tourney as 13 teams will jostle for glory in the preseason scouting tournament organised by PlatinumNewsNg.com
WHEN IS THE DRAW FOR THE 2023 PLATINUM CUP?
The Platinum Cup 2023 group stage draw takes place in Ugbowo,Benin City on Wednesday, April 5th.

WHO IS PARTICIPATING?
13 teams are assured of their place at the maiden edition of the Platinum Cup. The teams are:
Etto Football Club – Oredo, Benin City.
Genesis Football Club – Egor, Benin City.
Dynamo Academica – Ikpoba Okha, Benin City.
Oloke United – Oredo, Benin City.
Rolly FC – Ovia North-East, Benin City
BJ FC – Oredo, Benin City.
Yak FC – Egor, Benin City.
Florence Joshua – Akure, Ondo State.
St. Andrews – Oredo, Benin City.
Ottasolo FC – Yewa West, Ogun State.
Eagle Wings – Oredo, Benin City.
Worshippers FC – Egor, Benin City.
Benin Warriors – Ikpoba Okha, Benin City.

HOW DOES THE DRAW WORK?
There will be 13 teams at the Platinum Cup and they will be drawn into three groups of four with one group having 5 teams.
Five teams will be seeded in Pot 1 based on their standings at the 2022 Benin City Youth League. The visiting teams from other states will be seeded in Pot 2, while other teams will fill up the remaining slots.
Pot 1 – BJ FC, Rolly Fc, Dynamo Academica, Eagle Wings, Yak FC.
Pot 2 – Florence Joshua, Ottasolo FC, Oloke United, Benin Warriors.
Pot 3 – Genesis FC, Worshippers FC, St Andrews, Etto FC.
WHEN WILL THE FIXTURES BEGIN?
Matches for the inaugural edition will begin on April 12, but the fixtures will be confirmed after the draw for the group stage. The top two teams in each group and best two group stage losers in the tournament will advance to the quarter finals.
