Bendel Insurance Football Club of Benin opponents in the CAF Confederation Cup second preliminary round, RS Berkane of Morocco have departed their country en route to Nigeria ahead of their Saturday match against the Benin Arsenals.

The Moroccan team on its official Facebook page on Thursday morning announced the departure with the caption “We’re off to Lagos!”

The Orange Boys departed the Wajda-Angad Airport via a chartered flight that will connect them to Lagos where they will connect another flight to Benin City, the venue of the match

The 2021/2022 winners had a bye in the first round when their weekend hosts, Bendel Insurance FC booked the second round ticket at the expense of Algerian side, ASO CHLEF via 4-3 penalty shootouts wins after both legs ended 1-1 on aggregate.

Bendel Insurance who are making a return to the continent for the first time since 2005 surpassed people’s expectations with their place booked in the second round and will fancy their chances once again to pull what could be the second preliminary round upset if they advance at the expense of the highly rated Barkane side.

In an earlier post, the “Orange and Black” guys posted about their last training at the Volcanic Municipal Stadium as they finalized their journey to Benin City.
