Head coach of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, Edo chapter, Joseph Isokpehi has named returning captain, Saliu Ibrahim and twenty others in his 21-man list to face the Edo Judiciary football team in a novelty match scheduled for May 18, 2023.
The coach on Wednesday afternoon released his killer squad to represent the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Edo Chapter in a novelty match on Thursday, at the Catholic Seminary field, St Paul’s Catholic Church, Benin City.
Captain of the side, Saliu Ibrahim (Ibracadabra) who returned from a long-time injury layoff will heavily be relied on to spur his team to victory against the state’s Judiciary staff in the novelty match, a part of activities lined up to mark the retirement of the state’s Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Joe Itsebaga Acha.
Osaro Aguebor, Chika Ugbechie and Sharon Ekhiwere are all making their return to the team after missing out on the last two matches played by the team.
Foreign-based players on the list are Eghosa Aigbekan, Dennis Ofik and a new signing from Warri, Randa Micah also made the list.
Newly wedded, David Alabi is expected to start in goal for his side after hitting town Tuesday night from his honeymoon.
Prolific Striker, Emmason Edosa is expected to spare head the team’s attack alongside Fastest and Furious Driver, Ayoola Adeleke and Wale Williams in their terrific furious three at the front line.
Other players listed in the killer squad are Harry Okaka, Andy Egbon, David Alabi, Wale Williams, and Bendel Insurance Media officer, Kehinde Osagiede.
The players are expected to hit camp later today where they will hold the first training at the Uwa Primary School football pitch before filing out for Thursday’s game.
