…as the 2023 edition held in New Jersey, USA

Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt Hon Comrade Philip Shaibu, was among prominent sons and daughters of Afenmai land, who converged on Newark in New -Jersey, USA, for the 2023 Afenmai World Congress.

The congress which is an annual event, serves as a platform for the people of the Afenmai nation, both at home and in the diaspora to interact and articulate ideas for advancing the common ancestry, heritage and socio-economic development of Afenmai land and Edo State in general.

The 15th edition themed Afenmai Youths Development And Entrepreneurship as hosted by the Etsako USA Incorporated which had the Edo Deputy Governor in attendance as Special Guest of Honour, lasted three days as great sons and daughters of the Afenmai movement from every walk of life gathered to share ideas and brainstorm on the progress of Afemai.

The leadership of Afenmai World Congress has as its President, Madam Fatima Dankano.

This year’s edition of the congress attracted eminent citizens of the Afenmai nation from around the globe, including a prominent traditional ruler, the Egiegbai of Ekperi land, Alhaji Khanoba, Bright Akuetiemhe, President of Etsako New-Jersey, USA, former Chief of Staff to Edo State Government, Comrade Taiwo Akerele and Reverend Father Andrew Obiyan, amongst others.

Shaibu, the number two citizen of Edo State, has been an active member and a major participant in the Congress over the years. In his address at the Congress, punctuated with rounds of applause, Shaibu gave a catalogue of efforts made by the state government to checkmate ravaging herdsmen and curtail kidnapping in Edo State.

According to him, the Edo State Government will spare no effort to secure the state from criminals and criminality. Shaibu affirmed it was the only way the state can attract meaningful investments for economic development and create employment.

Recalled that the Afemai World Congress, recently supported the effort of the Edo State Government to check insecurity in the state when it provided money for the purchase of patrol vehicles and other gadgets for use in Edo North.
