Super Eagles Striker Sadiq Umar Impresses in Pre-Season Return for Real Sociedad

What better way to kick off the week than with some uplifting news this Monday? Well, Real Sociedad’s Sadiq Umar, known for his towering presence on the field, made a triumphant comeback on Saturday during a pre-season training game, scoring a remarkable goal.

The 26-year-old striker, who joined Real Sociedad from Almeria last summer, suffered a devastating knee ligament injury in September 2022 during a Laliga match against Getafe, which kept him sidelined for the remainder of the season.

In May, Umar resumed training just before the conclusion of the season. Despite spending his summer break in Nigeria, he diligently worked on regaining his fitness for the upcoming pre-season.

Having rejoined his teammates at Real Sociedad for full training, Umar has made a strong impression so far. While the club is yet to kick off their pre-season friendly games, they have been honing their skills through internal scrimmages. During one of these matches, Umar displayed his talent by scoring a magnificent goal.

Receiving a well-placed pass from Braiz Mendez, Umar executed a precise chip over the goalkeeper, who was frantically attempting to block the ball. The goal showcased the striker’s finesse and accuracy.

Real Sociedad faces a challenging season ahead as they make their return to the Champions League after a nine-year absence. Coach Imanol Alguacil will be counting on his players to quickly find their rhythm and deliver outstanding performances.

Umar aims to make up for lost time following his injury-marred first season. With the same brilliance he demonstrated during his tenure at Almeria, the determined striker is eager to prove his abilities once again.
