Public and Civil servants from fifteen different ministries under the Edo State Government will contend for glory in the maiden edition of the Edo State Head of Service (HOS) Football Tournament.
The tournament is an event designed to promote social interaction and the physical well-being of public servants across various Ministries, Departments and Agencies in the State.
The kick-off is scheduled for November 16, 2023, at 2 pm, at the Western Boys High School mini Stadium, Benin City, while the draws are scheduled for 6th November, 2023 at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium Media Centre, at 11 a.m.
Chairman of the Main Organizing Committee, Mr. Victor Edokpahi Wednesday after the first meeting held at the tournament Secretariat, Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, said the draws for the tournament will give room to many of the state’s staff of various ministries to bond together and establish a lasting relationship.
The seasoned sports administrator said the HOS football tournament, which will be played in a knock-out format will be physically and socially engaging for the participating civil and Public servants to meet the desired objectives of the tourney, which will climax in the second week of December 2023 inside the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.
The ministries and departments registered for the maiden edition are the House Football Team; Edo State Sports Commission; Ministry of Physical Planning, Housing, Urban and Regional Development; Ministry of Health; Office of the Auditor General; Electricity Regulatory Commission; ICTA; EDOSUBEB; Edo State School of Health Technology; Edo State College of Agriculture and Natural Resources.
Others are the Edo State Public Building and Maintenance Agency; Ministry of Mining and Energy; EDSOGPADEC; Edo State Fire Service and Edo State College of Nursing.
Edokpayi however used the opportunity to call on the organised private sector, individuals to support the tournament in whatever way as the organising committee will do its best to ensure they deliver on assigned duties.
