In a precise and concise manner, the head coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria, Finidi George has responded to the glamour of fans to sub off Paul Onuachu from Friday evening’s game, platinumnewsng is reporting.
According to Coach Finidi George, it was his decision to leave Paul Onuachu on in the game and no one can tell him or the coaching crew when to bring players on in a game or when players should be substituted. He believes the decision remains his responsibility and no one should be bothered by it.
“For me, nobody is going to tell me when to change a player, that’s not going to happen. The crowd might be shouting but we will change the player when we know we can change him. We know everybody is a coach today, that’s the truth. People can see, when you stand up there you can see everything, its just like playing draught, when you stand outside, you can see everything but when you sit there, you don’t see anything.”
“People can speak what they want but we are
focused on doing the job. We’ll take out players when we know he can’t give anything else. Yes, he (Onuachu) stayed a little bit longer, it’s our own decision, that shouldn’t bother a lot of people.”
Paul Onuachu had 24 touches, 1 key pass, 1 shot on target, 5 successful ground duels and 3 successful aerial duels for the Super Eagles of Nigeria before he was replaced by Terem Moffi in the 80th minute.
