Bendel Insurance FC storm Yenagoa For NNL Super 4 Tourney

Bendel Insurance Football Club of Benin, Tuesday evening arrived in Yenegoa, the capital City of Bayelsa State to participate in the mandatory Nigeria National League Super 4 tournament.

The Super Four tournament is the concluding part of the 2021/22 NNL abridged league which will determine the overall winner of the most important league. Host Bayelsa Utd, Bendel Insurance FC, Elkanelmi Warriors and Doma FC are the four teams in contention for the league title.

The tournament had suffered postponement on two occasions due to heavy flooding that wreaked havoc in the host City, but with the return of normalcy in Yenagoa, the tournament has now been rescheduled to begin November 15 and run through 19, 2022, at the Samson Siasia Stadium.

Bendel Insurance won their group (B1) with 49 points, nine points above their closest rivals, Gateway United FC of Abeokuta, to book their place in the Nigeria Professional Football League after three years in the NNL.

The team comprising 25 players and twelve officials arrived in Yenagoa at 4:18 pm and headed straight to their hotel. The draws for the tournament are scheduled to hold at the Ministry of sports at 7 pm today.

The Benin Arsenal will play against Doma United FC, El-Kanemi Warriors FC and Bayelsa United for Nigeria’s most important league’s 2022 winners trophy.

On arrival, the assistant coach of the Benin Arsenal, Greg Ikenoba said the team is in Bayelsa to have a nice time.

“We are here to enjoy our game and further create the blend and the desired understanding amongst our players. No pressure, we want to play good football and enjoy our time here in Bayelsa. We are also using this tournament as part of our preparation for the NPFL”.
