Delta Queens finished third-place at the ongoing Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament, as the Asaba based team emerged victorious with a 3-1 win against Remo Stars Ladies, platinumnewsng.com is reporting.

The game which took place at the University of Benin Sports Complex saw Esther Inyang shine as the standout player of the match, securing her team’s victory with two goals, while Chisom Nwachukwu contributed with the third goal. Moyinoluwa Owolabi was the goalscorer who managed to find the back of the net for Remo Stars Ladies.


Speaking after the game, Tosan Blankson, Coach of Delta Queens praised the tournament organisers for team quality of the competition while speaking on his team preparedness for the Nigeria Women Football League Premiership.

“We are prepared, we will work on one or two lapses. BOWFt is the best in Africa. Having up to 12 NWFL preimiership team participating. If you play this tournament and you cannot put your house in order, you are not ready.”

Platinumnewsng.com also spoke with Esther Inyang who was the Player of the Match.

“I feel excited. When we started the game, we were in a haste, so the game was not balanced. At halftime, we had a talk, and we bounced back. We are fully prepared for the season, and we are sure we will top the table. I will give my best to the team to achieve my goals.”



Delta Queens and Remo Stars are in Group B of the NWFL Premiership, set to kick off on November 15.
