Bendel Insurance’s opponent in the second preliminary round of the CAF Confederations Cup, Renaissance Sportive de Berkane (RSB) will see Hakim Benabdallah remain the president of the club.
In a tweet on Saturday evening, the reelection of the club’s president was confirmed after he was unanimously re-elected on Saturday for a second term (2024-2028).
The Benin Arsenal on Saturday evening qualified for the second preliminary round after seeing off Algerian powerhouse ASO Chlef on penalties. Insurance went into the second leg of the game with a 1-0 lead from home.
Faraway in Algeria, it ended 1-0 in favour of the home team but heroics from Obasogie who saved two penalties (one at regulation time; and one during the penalty shootout) saw Insurance progress to the next round.
Mr. Benabdallah’s re-election took place during the club’s Annual Ordinary General Assembly for the 2022-2023 sports season, which was held at the headquarters of its academy in Berkane. During this Assembly, the moral and financial reports were adopted.
RSB, who won the Morrocan Federation Cup known as the Throne Cup for the third time in their history this season qualified for the preliminary round while finishing 6th in the Morrocan league with 44 points.
Insurance of Benin will face RS Berkane at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium for the first leg on September 16.
