CMD Cup: Edo NMA books final place after pulsating shootout

Celebration galore was at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital mini stadium as Edo Nigeria Medical Association advanced to the final of the UBTH Chief Medical Director’s Inter-Professional Tournament after a pulsating penalty shootout, platinumnewsng.com is reporting.

Edo NMA played fantastically well to remain in the tournament. Uwa All Stars were the first to score in the day and made it hard for Edo NMA to find an equalizer. With 15 minutes left on the clock, Reuben made Professor Darlington Obaseki a proud coach as he finished, levelled things throwing the fully occupied stands into wild celebration.

With the game level at full-time, the winner was then decided by a penalty shootout. The heroics of the Edo NMA goalkeeper saved the team in a penalty shootout that ended 7-6 in their favour.

Edo NMA will now face defending champions, NNPC in the final of the CMD Cup set to hold on Monday, January 1, 2024.
