OFFICIAL: Turkish Super Cup final called off due to organizational disagreements

The Turkish Super Cup final between Galatasaray and Fenerbahce which was scheduled to be held in Saudi Arabia on Friday night has been postponed indefinitely, platinumnewsng.com is reporting.

According to reports, the Saudi authorities forbade players from wearing T-shirts and fans from carrying banners of Atatürk as well as demanding they do not sing the Turkish national anthem before the match, hence both teams decided not to go ahead with the scheduled game.

A Joint statement by the Turkish Football Federation, Galatasaray & Fenerbahçe on X read:

“To celebrate the 100th anniversary of our Republic and the Turkish Football Federation abroad, we organize with our clubs in a way that will contribute to the brand value of Turkish Football and our clubs.”

“The 2023 Super Cup competition, which was planned to be played on Friday, December 29, 2023 at 20.45, has been postponed to a later date as a result of the joint decision we made with our clubs, due to some disruptions in the organization.”
