Ibom Angels’ relegation from the Nigeria Women Football League Premiership has finally been confirmed following their humiliation at the hands of Robo Queens on Wednesday evening in Lagos.
The Orange Ladies have struggled all season, and a 7-1 loss at the Legacy Pitch, Surulere – their 9th of the league campaign – ensured they will finish in the bottom three this campaign.
It means an immediate return to the Championship for Ibom Ladies, with their manager, Usen Ebuk hopes of staying in the top flight officially over.
Coach Usen has been unable to spark the ‘Orange Ladies’ revival, however, defeat at home to Nasarawa Amazons last week ensured they were rock bottom
It meant they needed to win all their remaining matches to stand a chance of survival -All hopes were high with Afensimi Omon’s opener in the 11th minute, but it was cut short as Maria Oke, Esther Adebayo, Shukura Oladipo, Folashade Ijamilusi, Opeyemi Ajakaye and a brace from Rukayat Shobowale confirmed Ibom Angels’ way down.
Ibom Angels have won only two of the 11 matches they have played this season.
