Kenya is set to host the 2024 African Nations Championship, CHAN, as confirmed in an official statement released by the Cabinet Office under the Executive Office of The Kenyan President, platinumnewsng.com is reporting.

The cabinet meeting disclosed that Kenya had been chosen to host the continental championship in 2024, alongside two other footballing events.

These events include the CECAFA Under-18 Championship in November 2023 and the AFCON Under-15 (Pan-African Schools Football) CECAFA Region Championship in December 2023.

This announcement comes shortly after Kenya won the bid to host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in collaboration with East African neighbors Uganda and Tanzania.

To prepare for the AFCON 2027 and CHAN 2024 tournaments, the Cabinet approved the renovation of three existing stadiums and the construction of a new sports complex.

The ambitious plan involves the construction of the Talanta Sports Complex in Jamhuri, Nairobi, and extensive renovations for Nyayo National Stadium, Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani, and Kipchoge Keino Stadium. The renovation efforts will encompass pitch rehabilitation, improved facilities, ICT infrastructure, canopy installation, and the establishment of Hustler Bazaars.
