Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye, at the helm of the Nigeria Premier League (NPFL), has pledged to ensure that clubs within the league receive their fair portion from the lucrative television rights deal, platinumnewsng.com is reporting.
The NPFL inked a significant deal worth N5 billion with Propel Sports, granting exclusive streaming rights for the league. Most recently, the NPFL in a groundbreaking 5-year agreement valued at N5.03 billion with Startimes was finalized, enabling widespread coverage of the league.
In a virtual interaction with journalists anchored by Sunday Agunbiade, Elegbeleye unveiled plans to imminently disburse the clubs’ entitlements from the TV rights deal.
“We are convening a meeting next week in Abuja with the club chairmen. The distribution of shares from the television deal will be a key agenda item, ensuring every team receives their deserved allocation within a day or two following the meeting.” He stated.
Both Propel Sports and Startimes have been actively ensuring the league can be viewed by many across Nigeria and internationally.
