NWFL24: Matchday 4 Preview

The Nigeria Women Football Premiership Matchday Four is set to go down on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, in different stadiums across the nation. Taiwo Adeyinka previews the games on platinumnewsng.com.

Robo Queens v Remo Stars – Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Lagos – 2pm

Remo Star will visit the Centre of Excellence to play the Lagos Landladies, FC Robo Queens by 2 p.m on Wednesday at the Onikan Stadium, Lagos. Last time both sides faced each other at the Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament, it ended in favour of the newly-formed club who knocked out Robo queens 3-1 in the quarter finals.

Remo Stars, since the beginning of the tournament, having played three games in total, has drawn all by 1-1. Hopefully, this trend will be broken as they fight to secure their first win. Robo Queens on the other hand have won one, drawn one and lost one seated fifth in Group B of the NWFL.

Heartland Queens v Confluence Queens – Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri – 1pm

Heartland will host Confluence Queens at the Dan Aniyam Stadium by 1 p.m. The clash promises to be fascinating as the Confluence Queens have yet to concede any goal in the three games. Both teams won their last NWFL match.

Royal Queens v Naija Ratels – Sapele Stadium – 4pm

Royal Queens is still yet to record any point in the ongoing Premiership. This means they have lost all three matches played so far in the tournament. Their first was against Heartland Queens which was a blast of four goals to nill. Their second was against Abia Angels and with a goal to nil, Abia chanted joyfully at the end of the match.

Their third loss was against Confluence Queens, which they lost with a goal to nil. Hopefully, as they set up against Naija Ratels at Sapele Stadium Delta by 4pm., an end will come to their goalless and pointless record.


Nasarawa Amazons v Abia Angels – Lafia City Stadium – 4pm

Abia Angels recorded their first loss in their last game against Heartland Queens. The game seemed promising as it ended goalless in the first 45 minutes. However, the atmosphere of the game changed after a goal from Okwara Oluchi. The game ended in 2-1. Will the record remain the same or another will be added to it as Abia Angel is up against Nasarawa Amazons at Lafia City by 2pm? Nasarawa Amazons on the other hand has had a good start to the season amassing seven points in three games.

Rivers Angels v Sunshine Queens – Yakubu Gowon Stadium – 4pm

River Angels lost 2-0 in their last game to Delta Queens. River Angels will hope to dust off the loss when they come on the pitch against Sunshine Queens, who also lost their last match against Edo Queens. Wednesday at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium by 4pm, the bright side of fate might shine on one of them.

Edo Queens v Ekiti Queens – Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium – 4pm

Edo Queens with the upper hand at the top of their table and having their ever-ready fans with them are to host Ekiti Queens at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium by 4pm. Ekiti Queens are without a win in the NWFL and are seated 7th.

Bayelsa Queens v Delta Queens – Samson Siasia Stadium – 4pm

Bayelsa Queens are up against the 2023 NWFL Champion, Delta Queens, ton Wednesday at Samson Siasia Stadium by 4pm. Delta Queens, who won their last match against River Angels, two to nil, are set to hopefully win and continue their race to remain with the title as the NWFL Champion.

Adamawa Queens v Dannaz Ladies – Pantami Stadium – 4pm

Adamawa Queens will go against Dannaz Ladies as well at Pantami Stadium in Gombe State by 4pm in matchday four. Adamawa Queens have lost all three games in the NWFL, Dannaz Ladies seated fifth in Group A with five points from three games.
