Sport Minister to Present Nigeria’s Joint Bid for 2027 AFCON Hosting



Nigeria’s Minister of Sports Development, John Owan-Enoh, is set to present Nigeria and Republic of Benin’s joint bid to host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) at a meeting of the CAF Executive Committee in Cairo on Wednesday.

Accompanied by officials from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), including President Ibrahim Gusau, General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi, and bid Coordinator Mainasara Ilo, the Minister will represent the Federal Government of Nigeria at the meeting.

During the gathering, Nigeria will have the opportunity to make its case before the Executive Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Both Nigeria and the Republic of Benin have submitted a joint bid to host the 2027 AFCON tournament.

The meeting will also be attended by representatives from other countries that have submitted bids for the AFCON hosting rights in 2025 and 2027.

The Independent Assessment Committee of CAF will present their reports for assessment and discussion by the CAF Executive Committee.
