Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon.P Philip Shaibu has reaffirmed the commitment of the present administration, under the leadership of Governor Godwin Obaseki, to set the pace as a sub-national with a robust and thriving economy.
The Deputy Governor made the affirmation when he spoke during a state banquet held at the Edo Hotels, Benin City, as part of events in celebration of the Edo Summit, ÀLÀGHODARO 2022.
According to Shaibu, “our vision is to create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive. When businesses thrive, it will boost the economy. There will be more jobs and wealth for the people; thank you for supporting and believing in our vision of turning Edo from a civil service state into an industrial hub. Your support will never be taken for granted”, Shaibu added.
The Deputy Governor, however, extended his unreserved appreciation to his wife, Comrade (Mrs.) Maryann Philip-Shaibu, whom he described as the brain behind the reality of his dreams. He also applauded the governor’s wife, Mrs. Betsy Obaseki, who has made the journey very easy for them.
“It has been a tough time for us in the legislative arm, but all thanks to those that stood by us; thanks to the Head of Service and the Civil Service Commission, the engine room of our administration; the judiciary and all of us who have kept this dream alive”, Shaibu said.
Speaking earlier, Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, noted that “the Alaghodaro Summit is to rally private investors in shaping government policies, programs and reforms aimed at making Edo the most investment-friendly sub-national in Nigeria and an annual event to mark our anniversary in office, at the same time, to showcase the progress recorded in transforming the State into an investment haven”.
The event attracted dignitaries from within and outside Edo State.
