Benjamin Tanimu stars in Ihefu Sports Club of Tanzania‘s Monday’s 5-0 defeat in the hand of table toppers and CAF Champions League quarterfinalists, Young Africans, since the restart of the Tanzania NBC League

The atmosphere at Benjamin Mpaka Stadium was overwhelming for the Mbeya-based side who are just creating understanding amongst the players. Despite the score line, Ihefu gave a good account of themselves.

Young Africans Beat Ihefu SC

Ivorian striker, Pecome Zouzoua opened the floodgate of goals against the Benjamin Tanimu’s side in the 10th minute. The Ivorian connected well with Stephane Azizi Ki‘s assist. Azizi made it two assists in the 27th minute after setting up Mudathir Yahaya to throw the home fans into wild jubilation.

The “Assist Master” in the second half found the back of the net after his first beneficiary of the day. Pecome Zouzoua turned his benefactor in the 67th minute to take the game beyond the away team. Ihefu though fought to get one past their more powerful opponents, they became helpless when Stephane Azizi Ki completed his hat trick of assists. The Burkina Faso player completed his man of the match performance by setting up Ghanaian Augustine in the 83rd minute.

Yanga sealed off the game with the fifth goal two minutes later when Ivorian forward, Guede Gnadou teamed up with Democratic Republic of Congo forward, Maxi Nzengeli who slotted home his first goal of the season.

Benjamin Got Fans Praise

Benjamin Tanimu‘s performance however outshines the Young African’s victory. Fans at the stadium sang the praises of the Super Eagles invitee throughout the game. Many of the Yanga fans chanted Benjamin Tanimu’s name as they wooed him to come to their club, testifying to his top performance in the game.

With the result, Ihefu SC now sits 10th on the Ligi Kuu Bara table with 23 points. Up next for the Mbeya side will be an away game against Coastal Union on Thursday 14th March, 2024.
