…as Shaibu declares workshop on E-Governance open.
Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon Comrade Philip Shaibu, has restated the commitment of the present administration towards the holistic transformation of the civil and public service.
The Deputy Governor gave the assurance when he spoke on behalf of Governor Godwin Obaseki at a one-day workshop on E-Governance organized by the State Government.
“I am delighted to welcome participants to this all-important workshop organized by the Office of the Head of Service in collaboration with the Information Communication Technology Agency (ICTA).
“The Edo E-Governance initiative is part of the present administration’s vision of transforming the Civil/Public Service in line with best global practices to enhance service delivery by Ministries, Departments and Agencies of Government”.
“If the reports and feedbacks Government is getting is anything to go by, it’s expedient to note that employees of Edo State Government are very excited to be exposed to the rudiments of running a digitized and paperless system”.
“The world like they say, has become a global village and the way to go in delivering impactful services to the people is to deploy technology in driving the constitutional mandate of the civil/public service as the engine of Government.”
“As a Government, we are determined to ensure that the transformation of the civil/public service of Edo State is implemented holistically”.
Shaibu noted that the workshop was very critical in charting a way forward, affirming that at the end of the workshop, solutions would be proffered to some fundamental issues and challenges arising from the effective implementation of the digitization policy.
Earlier in his address, the State Head of Service, Anthony Okungbowa, Esq., disclosed that Edo was the only State in Nigeria with a digitized civil/public service.
The workshop which was held at the Information and Communication Technology Agency (ICTA) hall at the John Odigie-Oyegun Public Service Academy (JOOPSA), Benin City, had as participants, Honourable Commissioners, Heads of MDAs, Special Advisers, Permanent Secretaries, Directors and other stakeholders.
