Heroes Club, Edo State fighters Shines as GAMMA Nigeria National Open Mixed Martial Arts Championship comes to an end in Benin City.

The two day national open Mixed Martial Arts Championship organised by the Global association of Mixed Martial Arts (GAMMA) Nigeria at the multi-purpose indoor sports hall of the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City came to an end on Saturday with Heroes MMA Club of Port Harcourt and Team Edo dominating the overall medals table, platinumnewsng.com is reporting.

Over 40 fighters representing a total of ten MMA teams took part in the national open Championship, with Heroes MMA Club receiving the trophy as the overall winners, after her fighters won a total of 8 gold medals, 3 silver medals and 2 bronze medals.

Team Edo came second overall with 2 gold medals, 6 silver medals and 4 bronze medals. Oyo State came third after scoring a total of 2 gold medals. Fab Diva Eagle came out fourth with one gold and a silver. Other teams were Ekiti State, Ogun State, Ondo State, Akwa Ibom state and Cross River State.

Merit Nwaje of Heroes Club won the first gold medal of the championship. She defeated Alabi Motunrayo of Ekiti State by split decision in the -47.6kg weight category female final. Muili Toheeb of Oyo State was next in the gold train. He defeated Austin Frank of Edo State in the -52.2kg male category.

Other gold medalists are Karo Gabriel of Edo State who won gold in the 62.2kg, Agwu Celina of Edo State in the 88.5kg, Daniel Iwuoha of Heroes Club in the 74.8kg.
