India 2022: “We Are Almost Ready” – Flamingos Coach

Head Coach of the Nigeria U-17 Women’s team, Bankole Olowookere believes the team is almost ready for the FIFA U-17 Women World Cup staged for India.

Coach Olowookere told the Flamingos media the team is up to 95 percent ready for the competition after beating the Galatasaray Women Team 3-1 in a warm-up match.

“The team is a work in progress and the game is a build-up to what we might have done during the qualifiers and when we resumed camp for the World Cup.

“I think with this game, we are about 90 – 95 per cent ready for the World Cup but what we intend to do is to get the team in shape before we leave for India.

“We want to be above a hundred per cent level, so we would have more strength and energy to reach the final”, he said after the match.

The captain of the side, Alvine Dah Zossu when asked about the readiness of the team ahead of their group opener against Germany, she gave an update on what the coaches have been doing.

“We’ve watched a lot of games, most especially Germany to be precise, and the coaches have given us instructions on how to outplay them,” The captain said

The young ladies are currently camping in Kocaeli, Turkey and will depart for India from Istanbul on 6th October for the World Cup.
