By Osaro Matthew

Players and staffs of Nigeria National League (NNL) side, FC One Rocket were attacked and robbed by highway robbers on the Onitsha to Owerri road when returning to Uyo after a 2-0 loss to Ikorodu City at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan in Lagos, platinumnewsng.com is reporting.

The unfortunate incident occurred at sunset at Ihiala along the Onitsha-Owerri road but didn’t last for long as the attackers fled because of the bright light from incoming vehicles.

Though valuables like mobile phones were seized by the robbers, players and officials were unhurt.

The Indomitables were able to arrive their home ground, Uyo, the same night of the unfortunate incident.

Ubong Essien, the General Manager of FC ONE Rocket said the indomitables are determined to shake off the setback and continue to press forward with preparation for their next fixture.

“Thankfully no threat to life and injuries were recorded as the robbers fled as lights from incoming vehicles scared them and halted their operation”, the General Manager added.

The Uyo based side will be hoping that the unfortunate incident they experienced will not deter them as they prepare to overturn the defeat to Ikorodu City at the weekend.
