Bendel Insurance rock rock-solid centre back, Benjamin Tanimu have dedicated his goal against Plateau United to former Bendel Insurance hit man, Imade Osarenkoe.
Tanimu who converted from the spot in the 15th minute of the match day three game against Plateau United appreciated his teammates for handing him the responsibility of taking the spot kick and above all thanked his former teammate for the constant encouragement and motivation he has received from him both during their days together in the team and when he signed for UAE’s United FC.
Benjamin posted on his WhatsApp status moments after the game, dedicated the all-important goal to Imade. In his post, he wrote, ‘I dedicate today’s goal to Imade’ adding a love emoji.
In an exclusive interview with Platinumnewsng.com reporter, Sharon Ekhiwere, the Nigeria U-23 player stated:
“I dedicated today’s goal to Imade because we have come a long way together and we kept on advising and motivating ourselves on greater success.”
“He promised he was going to dedicate his first goal in his new team to me, and he did. I never knew I was going to score today, but my teammates handed me the opportunity of taking the spot kick, so I dedicate it to Imade for being our penalty taker throughout last season and till he left and he never missed any of his penalties.”
It would be recalled that Imade and Benjamin were two of the closest in their days together, with Benjamin also supporting or assisting him with some goals during matches, even as a centre-back. Benjamin had a hand in Imade’s last goal for Bendel insurance, as he took the shot which was deflected to the path of Imade by RS Berkane goalkeeper in the 2-2 draw at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium.
Benjamin Tanimu was named the player of the match, after scoring and also defending solidly against Plateau United on Saturday.
