Head coach of Bayelsa Queens, Domo Okara has expressed his pleasure over Bayelsa Queens’ goalless draws against Edo Queens away from home referencing his team to the Super Eagles of Nigeria, platinumnewsng.com is reporting.
Bayelsa Queens in matchday eight of the Nigeria Women Football League Premiership held Edo Queens to a barren stalemate at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium. The Yenagoa team had earlier defeated Edo Queens in matchday 7 of the NWFL 3-0 at home.
Speaking with Jokanola Bolaji of Platinum News, the tactician revealed his team employed the tactics of Super Eagles coach, Jose Peseiro of not conceding if they find it hard to score.
“We stuck with our game plan, if we cannot win, we do not lose. Just like the Super Eagles, if we cannot score, they should not score us,” the gaffer told Platinum News.
“We attacked with only two players as we congested the midfield. For the attackers, it was eighty per cent midfield, twenty per cent attack. If we can’t score, we must not concede. We hoped to catch them on the counter.”
He went on to speak on the status of Edo Queens as one of the best teams in the NWFL Premiership as he tagged the draw a success for his team.
“Edo Queens is one of the best female teams in Nigeria, to get a point against them is like a win to us. They are a very good side,” he said.
Coach Okara also praised his players’ fighting spirit as they proved a tough nut to crack for Ethe does Queen’s attack who struggled all evening.
“I am very happy with our fighting spirit. Edo Queens are a big team and a contender and being coached by our former coach,” Okara conclude
