With the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Annual General Assembly set to take place on Thursday, 18th of August, things seem to have taken another shape as the Professional Footballers Association of Nigeria (PFAN) has threatened to boycott the GA if the proper invitation to be part of the Congress is not sent to them before 4 pm Nigerian time today (Wednesday).
The players union which is an integral part of the NFF feels they have been neglected and to rectify the issues, PFAN in a letter signed by its General Secretary, Emmanuel Babayaro has given the federation a 24-hour ultimatum to extend an official invitation to the body as part of members of the congress.
The letter to the NFF, dated August 16, 2022, read
“Sequel to our letter dated 9th of August,2022 reminding the NFF about the omission of the players Union( a statutory member of the NFF congress) invitation to the NFF Annual General Assembly 2022 and the NFF’s rather silent treatment and lack of response.
“As a follow-up, therefore, I have been directed by PFAN executive to put the NFF on a 24-hour notice to elapse by the close of work on Wednesday, 17th August for response and clarification. consequent upon which the Players Union will consider its options, including the boycott of the AGA.
“While looking forward to your reply, please accept the assurances of President Tijani Babangida’s esteemed regards” The letter read.
The Annual General Assembly is slated to hold in Lagos on Thursday, 18th August 2022.
