…pledges Government continuous support for the police force
Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu, Wednesday decorated newly promoted senior police officers in the Edo Command with their new ranks, amidst cheers from family members, friends and professional colleagues.
The decoration followed recent promotions approved by the Police Service Commission, PSC for deserving officers with the requisite experience, years of dedicated service and academic records.
Nine senior police officers were decorated including the Divisional Police Officer, DPO of Jattu Police Division, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State, Otoagua Joseph who was until his promotion, a Superintendent of Police, SP.
Two Assistant Commissioners of Police, ACP Agili Joseph and Akeke Enimijofa were promoted to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP.
Three Chief Superintendent of Police, CSP Solomon Iriemi, Rufus Odediran and Evelyn Odubenu were promoted to the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police ACP; while four Superintendents of Police SP, Shehu Garba, Igoni Augustine, Olowole Oladipupo and Otuagua Joseph were promoted to the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police, CSP.
In his remarks, the Deputy Governor charged the newly promoted senior officers to internalise and uphold the tenets of the police reforms agenda, while emphasising respect for fundamental human rights and rule of law as enshrined in the constitution.
While congratulating the officers on their well-deserved promotions, he tasked them to bring their wealth of experience to bear on their new postings in tandem with their new ranks.
According to him: “It’s our dream to be promoted to a higher rank in our services, I plead with the general public to, at all times, give the police and other security personnel the opportunity of first refusal because they are doing a lot to protect our lives and properties, both day and night”, Shaibu added. He had earlier requested a minute silence in honour of police officers who died in line duty.
Edo State Commissioner of Police, CP Muhammed Dankwara, appreciated the Deputy Governor and the State Government for all the support.
He admonished the new promotees to step up their services in protecting lives and properties.
