Nigeria’s top table tennis player, Aruna Quadri, staged a very impressive comeback win at the World Table Tennis finals in Doha, Qatar on Wednesday morning when he defeated Brazilian 5th seed Hugo Calderano 3-2 in the first round of the tournament, progressing to the quarter-finals in the process, platunumnewng.com is reporting.

The African number one was 2-0 (11-7; 11-2) down after the first two sets. He then turned the game around in an unbelievable fashion after taking the remaining 3 sets of the game( 9-11; 10-12; 10-12).

The victory was the first for Aruna Quadri against the Brazilian who defeated him in the quarter finals of the 2023 WTT finals.

Aruna will now face a huge test against world number one, Fan Zhendong on Thursday in the quarter final for a chance to set a new personal record of advancing to the semi finals of the WTT finals for the first time.
