NPFL24: Enugu Rangers Fined ₦1 Million for Misconduct in Oriental Derby



The hammer of the Nigeria Premier Football League board has fallen on Enugu Rangers International after the team’s improper conduct during the Oriental Derby game against Abia Warriors in matchday 10, platinumnewsng.com is reporting.

In a statement released on Monday evening, the Enugu based team was fined ₦1 million for improper behavior displayed by the team’s officials during the match against Abia Warriors.


According to the statement, certain Rangers officials reacted violently to provocation from the home team, Abia Warriors, which is considered a breach of NPFL rules and brings disrepute to the game.

As a result, Rangers International has been fined ₦1 million for the misconduct. The club also has been directed to identify and present the officials involved in the incident for further disciplinary actions.

The club has been cautioned that a repetition of such misconduct will lead to more severe sanctions being imposed.

Rangers International has a 48-hour window to either appeal against or accept the sanctions imposed, as stated in the league body’s notice.
