The Confederation of African Football (CAF) is set to reveal the official theme song for the 2023 African Cup of Nations during the competition’s draw event, scheduled for Thursday, platinumnewsng.com is reporting.
“The official AFCON anthem will be unveiled on the occasion of the official draw scheduled for October 12, marking the start of the African Cup of Nations, Ivory Coast 2023,” stated CAF.
Among the talented artists contributing to and performing the theme song, Nigerian hip-hop star Yemi Alade is prominently featured.
In a statement, CAF disclosed that the artists responsible for this musical creation, including Magic System, Mohamed Ramadan, and Yemi Aladé, visited Ivory Coast on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, to present the song to officials and express their appreciation for the trust placed in them.
The anthem is titled ‘Akwaba’ the title of the song was revealed by A’Salfo, the leader of the group Magic System, and author of the anthem of this 34th edition.
AKWABA, a word derived from a local Ivorian language meaning welcome, encapsulates essential values that make it a powerful symbol of the competition: hospitality, friendship, generosity, and team spirit.
